An Update At The End (For Now)

Let me preface the statement above by injecting some much needed humanity.

Firstly, you’ll notice that this is the first upload on Pit of Plagues in over half a year – this is because I began freelancing for music-centric websites Vinyl Chapters and No Clean Singing, which commanded a much greater audience reach and response.

You will also note the sense of finality that the title commands, for it is the end of this brand, and this site, in its current form. This is for two major reasons: I have been working in a different field of journalism, and have wanted to dedicate the lion’s share of my time to that; building my editorial career organically in the process.

I want to thank the thousands of people that read the articles on this site on a monthly basis, your patronage has not been taken for granted. Similarly, I would like to extend my gratitude to all the bands that have sent over their demos, EPs and albums for review; rest assured that whilst I may have not written much up for this site – or other publications – I took the time to listen to everything in my inbox extensively and enjoyed almost all of the music thoroughly.

For the past three years, I have built this brand up from nothing, filling a niche in this field of journalism with engaging ranking lists and reviews that went into more detail than some of the competition. I’m proud of what I’ve achieved, and of the skills I have refined in my time at the helm.

It’s not goodbye, it’s more of stopping point for the time being, as I do not think it’s fair to keep this website on life support while it’s pushed to the back burner when people are actively reading through the content.

I hope you understand. It’s been an honour and a privilege, and it’s not a decision that I take lightly. With all said, this will be the last contribution for the time being, as we dance our way into the dark.
